1968 IWC Yacht Club (ref. 811AD)
The IWC Yacht Club was first launched at Baselworld in 1967. It was IWC's attempt at offering a more casual piece to the market, different to their Military pieces like the Pilot and Navigator models. It is powered by the Albert Pellaton designed 8541 Automatic Movement, featuring a Date with Hacking. This Movement was at its time renowned for being extremely precise and impressively durable.
The Stainless steel case measures in at 36mm without the crown, equipped with an Original Gay freres bracelet and a IWC signed clasp. The Original crown is signed with a Fish, indicating it is waterproof. In our opinion, the most interesting thing about this watch is its dial. The Original Sunburst silver dial has developed a unique tropical gold flaked patina over the last 56 years.
While not for everyone's tastes or desires, this piece is truly one of a kind for those who enjoy some patina.
